You don’t have to be a cat lover to appreciate this. It’s been awhile since we checked up on artist Paul Lung. Over two years ago, we came across his incredible pencil drawings and were blown away by the just how much they resembled photographed. If you can believe it, over the past two years, Lung has sharpened his skills even more which is most evident in his cat drawings. No only do the cats’ fur and whiskers look unbelievably real, the sharpness and clarity he achieves in their eyes are uncanny. Taking on average anywhere between 40 to 60 hours to complete just one piece, Lung is all about the details. Surprisingly, he solely relies on his trusty mechanical pencil to bring each cat portrait to life.
For those skeptics who don’t quite believe that they’re looking at drawings, on Lung’s Facebook page, he shows some fun step by step drawings. For a great appreciation of his work, including his ability to shade in just the right places, makes sure to check that folder out.
