Multidisciplinary artist Jen Stark is bringing her signature psychedelic aesthetic to the pickleball court via a new limited-edition collaboration with premium gear brand Volair. Co-founded by professional pickleball player Julian Arnold, Volair has partnered with Stark to create a collection that blends high-performance paddles with the artist’s vibrant designs, allowing players to bring a splash of color to the court.
Stark, whose work is highly influenced by the natural world, is best known for her 3D sculptures, which bring together vivid colors and organic forms to create luminous, otherworldly works. Her use of bright hues is inspired by nature’s signals, from the attractant and repellent properties of flowers and their effect on pollination to the phosphorescence of deep-sea creatures. The result is sculptures and paintings that transport the viewer into an extraterrestrial plane.
The artist’s sense of fun and brightness is brought to the collaboration with Volair, which features two limited-edition paddles. The equipment is infused with Stark’s artistic touch and includes a collectable print signed by Stark, all packaged in a beautiful patterned box.
The paddles are available in the brand’s Forza 1 and Forza 2 shapes. Forza 1 features a slimmer shape, perfect for players who prioritize reach and balance of control and power. The Forza 2 features a wider, more traditional body that is great for defensive play and maneuverability at the net. Underneath the design, the paddles are made of Volair’s thermoformed unibody that performs elite spin and T 700 carbon fiber with a polypropylene core.
Fans of the beloved sport now no longer have to sacrifice performance for aesthetics. Limited to just 150 paddles of each design, the collaboration transforms a piece of sports equipment into a collectible work of functional art.
