Asking a child, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” is a great way to learn more about their personality and interests. But this question also reveals kids’ curiosity and desires, helping them outline their dream careers from a young age. Hoping to inspire her students and put a smile on their faces, a Brazilian teacher named Giovanna Macedo used ChatGPT to transform her fourth-graders into adults who have their dream jobs.
These careers represent a wide array of jobs, but they speak to the way kids see the world. A boy named Davi laughs with excitement after imagining himself as an astronaut, while a girl named Eva squeals with joy after seeing herself working in animation. Meanwhile, a young soccer fan named Nicolas stares in disbelief after picturing himself as a goalie for Barcelona FC, and Ana Clara, who wants to be a biologist, covers her face from the thrill of seeing her adult self surrounded by animals.
“I turned all my students into their dream profession,” the teacher wrote on Instagram. “They thanked me, they cried. They said it gave them a chance to imagine themselves a few years from now and realize they need to hit certain goals to make that dream come true. I used ChatGPT to do this. I did one by one, writing a short blurb based on what they shared with me.”
The moving clip was reposted by the official ChatGPT account, which called Macedo “Teacher of the Year” for this idea. While some have called out the idea of using AI for this, others have supported this idea as the best and most appropriate use of ChatGPT. For all the tools used in this, these inspiring images are just a render for a bright future. The true human work will be in helping these kids see their dreams come true, and that’s something no AI could ever provide.
