Actors Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds have one of the most spectacular bromances in the entertainment industry. For years, they’ve welcomed fans into their pretend “love-hate relationship,” with lots of pranks and support for each other’s projects. As many friends do, Reynolds recently celebrated Jackman’s 56th birthday with a sweet Instagram tribute.

Reynolds posted over a dozen pictures of the two of them together, as well as some images of Jackman rocking his legendary Wolverine suit. “I hope we get to do this til we’re 90. Happy Birthday, @thehughjackman. A lot of years. A lot of adventures,” the Canadian actor wrote.

While they have long been friends, the pair starred together in Deadpool and Wolverine earlier this year. The film’s production, as well as the press tour, seem to have brought the pair even closer. And that’s not all—the movie is now the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time, and the second highest grossing film of 2024.

Reynolds and Jackman’s friendship goes way back. The pair first met on the set of X-Men Origins: Wolverine in Sydney in 2007. “Back then he was already a movie star and I walked onto set a supporting actor,” Reynolds reminisced back in August. “Film sets can have a scary imbalance of power and I remember seeing how he treated every member of the crew with genuine respect and appreciation. He made a case that the term ‘filmmaker’ isn’t just for people with their name on the poster.”

While Jackman and Reynolds now sit atop the superhero pantheon with the success of Deadpool and Wolverine, the latter has also shown his support for his pal’s other ventures. Recently, the Australian actor shared that he would be performing a series of shows at Radio City Music Hall. Not only does Reynolds make a cameo in the video announcement, but he also asks if he’ll be in it—to which Jackman replies, “Absolutely!” before cheekily shaking his head and whispering, “This is my time.”
