Italian artist Cristoforo Scorpiniti, better known as Crisco Art, is back with more glow-in-the-dark paintings that reveal surprises when the lights go out. Primarily focusing on dreamy landscapes and animals, he uses glow-in-the-dark paint to great effect, creating depth and shadows that only appear as the room gets dark.
Much like his paintings that illuminate in the shadows, Scorpiniti’s creativity blossomed when things got dark in his life. His turn to art was an unexpected response to an unfortunate event. After being fired from his real estate job, he was forced to return home to Southern Italy, but rather than stopping everything because of a negative experience, he thrust himself into something new—art.
It was this return to his hometown that sparked his passion for art, and he’s created quite the following with his unique technique. Using thin layers of luminescent paint, his work takes on a dual personality—seemingly one artwork with the lights on, and another when they are off.
Starry nights illuminate, sunsets glow, and trees cast shadows with Crisco’s glow-in-the-dark embellishments. The artist sells his work via Etsy and has begun exhibiting his work in galleries. Check out more of his dazzling creations below.
