Wow, this Portrait of Lincoln looks like it was a photograph taken just yesterday. The rich color and sharp details of the former president are so hyper-realistic, it’s a little bit shocking! In reality, the piece is actually a sculpture developed by Hollywood special effects artist Kazuhiro Tsuji. The Japanese artist has propelled special effects make-up to a new level, producing final products that are better than many of the digital techniques out there.
According to his bio, “Kazuhiro’s hyper realistic technique, learned while he was in the film industry, renders portraits that emit a profound sense of soul and emotion to viewers.” The piece measures 6.5 feet tall with stand and is currently part of the Life and Times of Abraham Lincoln exhibit at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation & Library. Fans of President Abraham Lincoln will certainly want to check out the show, which will be open to the public through September 30, 2013.
