If I had to chose one modern artist who’s art installations completely blow me away, I’d chose Olafur Eliasson. Sam and I went and saw his work at the MoMA in SF years ago and we walked away from the museum different people. The way you become immersed in his art…well, it’s like nothing you’ve ever experienced.
His work is currently on display at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, Japan.
DesignBoom:
For this project, Eliasson explored and understood the architecture and functionality of the space, which was designed by SANAA, in order to make his work relevant within the museum walls. His installations, bring the institution to life, engaging and transforming the rooms and corridors through his use of light, mirrors, shadow, color, wind and fog.
Mind you, this is the same artist who magically created those NYC Waterfalls back in June 08.
How I’d love to experience his work again!
Sadly, the exhibition ends on March 22nd, 2010.
