The Robot Cook That Makes Ramen

Humans have officially become useless. A robot that doles out nearly 80 bowls of noodles a day at the Fua-men ramen restaurant in Nagoya, Japan is all the rage. It’s bright yellow robotic arms are pre-programmed to boil noodles, pour the soup into bowls and sprinkle toppings on top of the dish. “I don’t feel any difference in taste between this ramen and one cooked by a human chef,” Yoshikazu Yamada, a first-time customer, said after slurping his noodles and giving two thumbs up. Customers in the restaurant can watch the entire process of the automated ramen-making, which costs about $7 and takes a minute and 40 seconds per bowl. In their spare time, the robots entertain customers by demonstrating various tricks, such as spinning dishes and mock dueling.
