What Develops (Ink and acrylic on board)
Though gorgeously colorful, Los Angeles based illlustrator Julian Callos often straddles the line between lightness and darkness in his artwork. Universal themes such as death, power, and wisdom are often explored as he tries to tap into our complicated psyches. Julian connects with the audience by creating images we can all relate to – a polaroid camera, a playground – asking us to remember our sweet childhood. In doing so he does what most artists strive to do – he gives us a brief respite in our day as we long for a time when life was simpler.
