Resin and wood might seem like an unlikely combination, but as we’ve seen time and again, they’re stunning when fused together. Jewelry designer Britta Boeckmann is one of the premier purveyors of this trend, and for years she’s wowed us with vibrant hues offset by rich woods like mahogany and jackfruit. Based in Melbourne, Boeckmann’s pendants are influenced by the natural environment, so it’s fitting that some of her latest pieces would resemble the crashing ocean waves.
Boeckmann’s previous wood and resin jewelry features blonde and reddish-colored woods punctuated by semi-transparent hues like purple and green. She still maintains this technique but has since added touches of white to her resin mixtures. The hue swirls among the cerulean, yet doesn’t fully lose itself in it; the result looks like an aerial view of white-capped waters as they collide with a sandy coastline. When you have one of these pendants in your hand, it’s as if you’re holding a tiny piece of the world.
Since we last checked in with Boeckmann, her business, BoldB, has grown a lot. In early 2016, she was unable to keep up with demand and brought on additional help to expand her business. If you’d like to sport these styles, BoldB jewelry continues to sell their wares through Etsy.
