It’s no wonder that the adult coloring book trend continues to grow—few activities are more soothing than reviving abandoned bits of childhood creativity with the help of a handful of crayons. Many of today’s editions have a more mature and modern edge than the ones we used as kids, revolving around urban scenes or nature-inspired ephemera. However, a new release is about to bring a truly squeal-inducing blast from the past: a Lisa Frank coloring book, made specifically for grown-ups.
Nothing sparks nineties-era nostalgia quite so poignantly as the unicorns, dolphins, and other doe-eyed creatures swirling between rainbows and daisies in Frank’s glittering, technicolor dreamworld. Now, we’ll get to concoct the wildly fanciful color schemes all on our own with our materials of choice, be they gel pens or pencils. Each page will be intricately detailed, with patterns a bit more advanced than our childhood selves could perhaps have tackled, so we’ll get to reminisce with a slightly enhanced challenge.
The book will be available next month at Dollar General, just in time for back-to-school season. In the meantime, catch a sneak peek on the Lisa Frank Instagram page.
