Dazzlingly Luminescent Installation Controlled by Viewer’s Movements

Vertical Skip is a dazzlingly luminescent installation by Berlin-based artist Thilo Frank. Constructed using lightwire, a transformer, a speed control unit, sensors, and an electric engine, the dynamic sculpture is in constant flux, morphing into new forms in an incredible exploration of space, light, and motion.

Driven by the movements of the surrounding audience, Vertical Skip is a fully interactive piece that seems to vibrate with energy. Measuring at a height of 10 meters, the imposing installation seems to fill the space of the entire room with its flowing form, creating an intimate experience between viewers and the artwork that they can control.

According to the artist’s website, “The viewer functions as a coproducer of the work, perceiving his or her relational aspect as a instrument of measurement. The cognitive aspect in its work is enacted by the viewer, who through his physical reaction to the work, reflects himself to it. Through his physical interaction–the viewer completes the work.”
