We just received a beautiful gift from the kind people at No Starch Press. Beautiful LEGO is a brand new, full-color art book that shows what happens when some highly talented artists get a hold of plastic LEGO bricks. The author of the book, Mike Doyle, is an internationally acclaimed LEGO artist himself who’s known for his grand-scale designs like the one on the cover, a 6 foot tall model that took over 200,000 LEGO bricks, as well as the spooky Victorian houses we featured, here.
The 280 page book is filled with everything from pop culture portraits to models of dissected frogs. All in all, it’s an inspiring photo book that’s perfect to add to your art book collection, especially for those of you who can’t get enough of LEGOs.
Here’s what Doyle said about putting together this book. It’s a statement I can relate to as one of the curators of My Modern Met. “When I first discovered the kinds of LEGO artwork that people were creating, I was amazed. I had no idea that a little toy could go so far. And it keeps getting better as builders share their creations and techniques online, which inspires others and pushes them to do even more incredible things with LEGO. I hope this book inspires readers to new levels of creativity.”
Now here’s a few of our favorite LEGO creations you can find inside.
