Lucky for us, after Federico Mauro’s clever series, Famous Eyeglasses, spread throughout the web, he decided to create another. This time, the Italian multimedia designer directs our eyes downward, asking us to take the attention away from the eyes and onto the feet. The minimalist series, simply titled Famous Shoes, brings to light the footwear we often associate with the world’s most iconic and fashionable personalities, that is, in real life or in television and film.
From Dorothy’s sparkling ruby slippers worn by Judy Garland in the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz to Forrest Gump’s classic Nike sneakers worn during his famous run, you can’t help but instantly remember the best scenes from your favorite movies. Humorously sprinkled within are the actual shoes worn by real-life tech celebrities like Mark Zuckerberg and his black Adidas slippers or Steve Job’s and his gray New Balance shoes.
As Mauro tell us, “The minimalist series shows only a single shoe and the name of its wearer beneath it, although some of them are so well-known that they need no introduction.”
Here are some of our favorites.
