Street artist David De La Mano recently created this amazingly captivating mural, entitled Transciende (Transcends), along the streets of Montevideo, Uruguay. In his signature monochromatic style, the artist explores paintings that elegantly transform simple shapes into complex images. The basic forms and limited colors mimic the style of cave paintings, which closely connect his modern illustrations with the very first symbols used for communication.
For Transciende, De La Mano artist created a series of small, white human forms that overlap with two larger silhouetted human faces. Within the composition, he was able to achieve an energetic motion set against the stillness of his outdoor canvas. As the crowd of white figures move towards the center, they become one blob of solid color, creating a second, deeper layer of imagery beyond what viewers see upon first glance.
