After displaying his spectacular light installation at Longwood Gardens, artist Bruce Munro is back with new works, this time at Waddesdon Manor. The beautiful French chateau, in Buckinghamshire, England, is currently home to two of Bruce Munro’s latest light installations, Angel of Light and Blue Moon on a Platter.
Created by laying out approximately 50,000 used CDs in a precise circle across the the front of the house, Angel of Light spreads its wings, letting you walk right through it. Outlined with battery-operated LED candle lanterns, its sure to be an amazing sight, especially at night.
Blue Moon on a Platter was created by pinning thousands of CDs to the undulating banks of the amphitheater, which measures 28 meters across. In the center sits a “Moon” that contains 150 spheres of coiled optic fiber. The Moon glows with blue light which refracts and glitters across the sea of CDs. It is accompanied by a soundtrack of 18 moon-themed songs, chosen by Bruce Munro himself. Watch Blue Moon on a Platter being built and then coming alive in the video, below.
These gorgeous light installations will be on view throughout the holiday season or until January 1, 2013.
