Dynamic Modern Superyachts by Zaha Hadid

In collaboration with Hamburg-based shipbuilders Blohm+Voss, world-renowned architect Zaha Hadid has revealed a design project to create six different superyachts. The London-based architect conceptualized a 128-meter yacht that served as the inspiration for five smaller (90m) luxury boats known as Unique Circle Yachts. Each vessel features a dynamic design, highlighting an “interwoven network of supports that vary in thickness and lend a natural aesthetic to the yacht’s external appearance; evoking the organic structural systems found in natural marine formations.”

The first of the five 90-meter yachts, known simply as JAZZ, incorporates Hadid’s vision which has also been technically detailed by Blohm+Voss’s expertise in naval architecture. While the hull remains a solid structure, the superyacht offers a modern aesthetic for the upper section of the lavish watercraft that boasts an exoskeletal design. Each of the other four yachts are set to apply a similar style, though they will be uniquely designed according to their respective owners.

Hadid says, “As a dynamic object that moves in dynamic environments, the design of a yacht must incorporate additional parameters beyond those for architecture – which all become much more extreme on water. Each yacht is an engineered platform that integrates specific hydrodynamic and structural demands together with the highest levels of comfort, spatial quality and safety.”
