Zaha Hadid Architects has designed a towering 21-story property for Dubai featuring the firm’s signature futuristic style. The unique design scheme for the Opus Office Tower is essentially a cube with a large void in the center, splitting the building into two structures. They are connected by an illusively hidden base that makes the edifice appear as though it is floating above ground.
The multi-purpose building is an eye-catching architectural fixture that is meant to complement the modern, Middle Eastern cityscape. It is also designed to present a different view in the day and night. The project explains: “A pixelated reflective faade renders the cube full by day; by night it ‘dematerializes’ as light floods the void.” It’s sure to be an attraction for tourists and even more so given the additional project of designing the very first ME by Meli hotel in the Middle East within the complex. As of now, it is slated to be completed in 2016.
