World’s First Revolutionary 3D Printing Pen

If you’re still trying to grasp the fact that objects can be built with 3D printers, you might want to take a seat because Boston-based toy and robotics company WobbleWorks LLC has designed a brand new, advanced version of this technology–the very first 3D printing pen! With this handy new gadget they’re working on called the 3Doodler, people will have the unbelievable opportunity to draw sculptures that are actually three-dimensional figures.

The simplest way to explain how the pen works is that spools of plastic are fed into the device, heated, and immediately cooled and solidified upon expulsion. Another remarkable thing about the 3Doodler, other than its obviously awesome function, is that the plastic used as the pen’s ink is biodegradable and 1 foot of the strand can create about 11 feet worth of 3Doodling.

The duo behind the project, Peter Dilworth and Maxwell Bogue, are currently running a Kickstarter campaign set to end a little over a month from now. The response to the campaign has exceeded their expectations, already raising well over 20 times their initial goal of $30,000. However, the campaign is still ongoing until March 25th, offering a number of perks, including your very own 3Doodler, which is scheduled to reach donators by November.
