Wes Anderson’s fanciful film sets are one of many reasons people love his movies so much. His charming visual worlds feature peculiar architecture and kitsch interiors, cast in captivating color palettes. We’ve covered the popularity of this signature aesthetic before, from themed Airbnb rentals, to a subreddit (turned Instagram) where people share Anderson-esque locations from across the globe. The most recent Andersonian discovery to catch our attention is the pastel-clad Café Congreso—a café in the Philippines run by owner Joseph Malabanan.
Opened in the spring of 2017, the café most closely resembles the set of The Grand Budapest Hotel—a pastel-hued retro-chic hotel, packed with delightful details. Similarly, Café Congreso’s interior features cotton candy pink walls and seating, paired with teal green features such as the marble-topped coffee bar. Lux gold accents are found in raised wall frames and light fixtures, while the café’s twee jars and plates complete the look.
From the menu, Café Congreso serves specialty coffee and matcha smoothies, as well as pizza, homemade ice cream, and of course pretty pastries that look as though they’ve just arrived from Mendl’s bakery.
If you can’t make it to the Philippines, you can follow Café Congreso on Instagram for a daily dose of pastel pastry perfection.
This café in the Philippines looks as though it could be in a Wes Anderson film.
The interior’s delightful color palette is made up of cotton candy pink, teal green, and gold accents.
Even the food and drinks look perfect enough for the silver screen.
