Visualizing Touch, Scent and Sound

Jan von Holleben just sent word about his latest project and it’s a lot different than you might think. While the photographer is known for his magical photos of kids, lately he’s been busy working on more conceptual projects like this one for German audio company Senheiser.

“They wanted to have a series of images that reflect on products that are designed to communicate with a variety of our senses,” he tells us. “We touch these objects and the material recalls a memory, we hear them and the sound tells us something about the quality, we smell something and remember a mental image.

“But how do you make an object even more apparent and prominent than it already is in reality?”

von Holleben decided to use classic objects we all know and love. He shot these objects in his studio and then proceeded to lay the images onto itself. “This made the items visually whirl back from memory to our conscience as if we’d just be confronted with it – a direct translation of Sennheiser’s vision,” he says.
