Architect Victor Lusquios creates designs that are inspired by the natural world around us. The Spanish artist says, “Respect for existing is the initial premise and new projects emerge from the analysis of the environment.” Olas! is a beach house concept that is designed to mimic the waves of the ocean. The foundation of the building is a connection of flowing lines which resemble overlapping waves and divide the home into three floors. Windowed walls expose the interior rooms that face outward towards a stunning ocean view, while the back structure of the building is made out of ceramic and serves as what Lusquios describes as a “protective skin.”
The top floor serves as a lovely place for relaxation and sun-bathing, while the ground outside area features a long swimming pool with overflowing water. In one of the bedrooms, a Joan Mir painting pays tribute to the sea and the only privacy one can find in the home is within the enclosed bathroom spaces. The unique and futuristic building concept was a finalist in the fifth edition of Porcelanosa’s Awards of Architecture and Interior Design. I know where I want to book my next vacation!
