Major Internet Sites Transformed into Dresses

Italy-based digital artist Victor Faretina, aka Neko-Vi, finds inspiration from popular websites like YouTube, Wikipedia, and Facebook and reinterprets their visual aesthetic into evening gowns in his series titled Web in Vogue. The 19-year-old fashion designer-in-the-making does an excellent job of taking the essence of each internet domain’s purpose and community to configure an appropriately elegant ensemble.

The fashion collection Neko-Vi has digitally produced reflects an understanding not only of form-fitting clothing design for women, but of internet culture with acute attention to color schemes, patterns, icons, typography, and logos. The Pinterest gown echoes the the site’s red and white theme with a few crafty embellishments that users of the networking and sharing site may want to “pin” and purchase; whereas, Twitter is represented as a radiant sky blue, one shoulder style dress with the signature bird at the hip. It seems to be a conscious decision not to include the fail whale. Good call, Neko-Vi.

The young artist hopes to one day turn these designs into actual articles of clothing, though he may have to retire a few of them, like MegaUpload, when the time comes. Or, perhaps, it can be part of a vintage line. Luckily, the series is ongoing. We look forward to seeing more internet fashion transformations.
