Playful, educational, and on a mission “to make art and art history more fun,” Today is Art Day has a one-of-a-kind approach to learning. Through its social media accounts, the creative company shares daily stories and fun facts about beloved artists, art movements, and masterpieces. On top of these regular posts and pictures, Today is Art Day also aims to educate with its newest quirky concept: a Van Gogh action figure.
Measuring 5 inches tall, the tiny doll presents an adorably stylized depiction of the iconic Post Impressionist. Thanks to his fiery red hair, sunflower lapel pin, and a pair of Dutch clogs, the artist is immediately recognizable. Just in case there is any doubt, though, the too-cute toy features fully detachable ears. (Van Gogh famously cut off a part of his left ear in 1888.) Additionally, each figurine comes with a pint-sized paintbrush and teeny-tiny reproductions of his renowned paintings, including Starry Night, The Cafe Terrace at Night, The Sunflowers, Bedroom in Arles, and his most well-known Self Portrait.
To fund the exciting project, Today is Art Day has started a Kickstarter campaign. Until March 16, a donation of $21.00 will get you your very own petite painter as well as all of his adorable accessories. In addition to Van Gogh, the company aims to produce more artistic action figures in the future, so be sure to keep your eye—and your ear—out!
