‘UK’s Smallest Castle’ is a Charming 1-Bedroom Manor That’s Now for Sale

If you’ve ever dreamed of living in a castle, now’s your chance. A humble palace known as Molly’s Lodge is currently for sale near the village of Long Compton in Warwickshire, England. It’s not every day that there’s a castle for sale, and with this one, you won’t need a dozen servants or a groundskeeper to tend to your moat. Molly’s Lodge is more like a house that just happens to be built like a castle.

The regal structure was designed and constructed in the 1830s by Edward Blore, a famous British architect. Originally, it was a gatehouse for the opulent (and much larger) Weston Park Estate mansion that sits on the northern edge of the Cotswolds. Now, Molly’s Lodge is used as a separate one bedroom, one bathroom home complete with a spiral staircase and living room that boasts a cast iron Victorian fireplace.

Despite its nearly 800 square feet of interior space, Molly’s Lodge has an expansive outdoors. A long gravel driveway leads you to the house, and its property features a garden, ornamental pond, as well as a “kitchen garden” that grows fruits, vegetables, and herbs.

Priced at about $690,000 USD, Molly’s Lodge also includes a building called Molly’s Mews. This extra space features a double garage, office, and a one bedroom apartment. It’s perfect for someone who wants a work space away from their bedroom, as well as a comfortable place for when visitors come to stay.

Have you ever dreamed of living in a castle? Now you can, in Molly’s Lodge.
