For photographers, finding the perfect camera bag can be a challenge. The Everyday Messenger makes this quest much easier with a stylish pack that doesn’t look like your average photo bag – it looks like the type of thing you’d carry in your day-to-day life. Renowned travel photographer Trey Ratcliff teamed up with Peak Design to create this immensely popular item, which raised over $500,000 in the first day of its Kickstarter campaign.
Taking over 10 months to perfect, The Everyday Messenger borrows from the past and incorporates characteristics from classic shoulder bags, but goes a step further to fuse this style with modern materials and custom hardware. The water-resistant messenger is focused on flexibility by using FlexFold foam dividers that allow the bag to expand and contract. This accommodates many different camera body styles and lenses. When those aren’t in use, the dividers can be tucked away.
In addition to flexibility, The Everyday Messenger also features other handy sections that are great for non-camera gear: a quick-access zipper; a 13 to 15-inch laptop sleeve; a gusseted front panel with eight stretchy compartments; and two exterior side pockets. Plus, there’s a Capture clip to hold your camera on the outside of your bag.
The pack can be worn in a couple of ways – as a messenger bag or as a sling-style over your shoulder. Its straps are adjustable, and the front face features a new patent-pending MagLatch, which replaces traditional buckles and clasps with a sleek magnetic lock that you can open and close with one hand.
There’s still plenty of time to order The Everyday Messenger via Kickstarter. It’s estimated to start shipping in December of this year.
