This beautifully simple series by photographer Tom Blachford features the everyday life, architecture, and cars found throughout the city of Havana. Using his signature minimalist approach, Blachford documented his travels throughout Cuba’s capital from every angle.
Blachford captured pedestrians from overhead as they crossed the street, got up close to narrow in on the shiny details of a car, and widened his lens to snap larger cityscapes filled with compact buildings and crowded neighborhoods. The vibrant colors of the city are the bright central point within many of the images.
“I have found by simply observing and capturing the mundane around me from a new perspective or in a new light can elevate places or events to a level that people can instantly connect with them in a new way,” explains Blachford. “Whether it is amateur paddle boarders shot from 1,000ft in the air or homes and landscapes shot in different conditions, my work seeks to force a double take on what has been overlooked and under-appreciated.”
