Designed by Andrew Maynard Architects, the Tattoo House is an extension to a three-bedroom home in Fitzroy North, a suburb in Melbourne, Australia, created to accommodate a growing family. Inspired by a tight budget, the Tattoo House is a simple and strong two-story box design brimming over with functional design – a kitchen bench that doubles as part of the stairway and a window screened with UV-stable stickers that not only provides privacy, neatly eliminating the need for curtain, but also reflects heat and glare away from the expansive windows. In essence, the tree supergraphic was both aesthetically pleasing and completely useful.
All in all, it is a brilliantly designed house that ultimately won multiple awards for its ingenuity.
Simple and sweet.
