Last year, we were wowed by Luisa Azevedo’s striking surrealism photography. Now, the self-taught artist is back with a new batch of delightful composites that blend unexpected elements into enchanting scenes.
Azevedo’s dreamy digital collages are made up of real photographs of animals, landscapes, and whimsical objects like orange peels and clusters of crystals. In most cases, she magically combines these components into worlds of make-believe, where antlers hold oceans, feathers are lush forests, and elephants sprout flowers.
Sometimes, however, she also dabbles in illusion art, creating perplexing images that cleverly trick the eye. This approach is undoubtedly inspired the work of René Magritte, one of Azevedo’s favorite artists. Specifically, she notes that she has found inspiration in one of the Surrealist‘s famous quotes: “Art evokes the mystery without which the world would not exist.”
As she continuously works to “deconstruct and reconstruct her own reality,” Azevedo shares her stitched-together creations on Instagram. Since we last caught up with her, she has also started selling prints of her dreamy work on Etsy, as well as tapestries, totes, and more on Society6.
Specializing in surrealism photography, self-taught Photoshop expert Luisa Azevedo creates composite photos straight out of a dream.
