Sophie Hardy has a job that most of us only dream of—she gets paid to dine in fabulous restaurants across the UK. The 25-year-old was recently hired by Weight Watchers as an Official Eating Officer whose primary duty is to travel to eateries and sample their offerings. By dining at different restaurants while staying on the Weight Watchers plan, Hardy wants to prove that a healthy attitude towards managing your weight doesn’t have to be at the expense of your social life.
Hardy’s new job title comes after a recent Weight Watchers survey that revealed 71% of Brits think that dieting makes socializing difficult, and that people between the ages of 25 and 34 struggle to find a balance between the two. To demonstrate that it’s possible, Hardy will dine out twice a week and explore menus for healthy-yet-tasty options. Establishments that pass the test will be “WW Approved.”
Hardy was a devotee of the Weight Watchers programs before she was hired for her coveted gig. She first joined at age 16, falling “in love with the flexibility of the Weight Watchers plan” and dropped the pounds. Ten years later, she rejoined the organization and is now close to her target weight. As the Official Eating Officer, she’ll post a weekly blog of her weight-loss journey while documenting the places she noshed. Of her new position, she says, “I am excited to show the UK that life doesn’t have to stop while leading a healthier lifestyle.”
