Los Angeles based photographer Tasya Van Ree infuses her incredible black and white photos with romanticism, darkness, and intimacy. As she explains, “There is this undying interest with the traditional seduction of black and white film. It captures the internal dialogue of whatever it is that you’re shooting, and exhibits it in a revealing way. I think there’s something quite alluring about it. Something genuine.” Her photos can best be described as a cross between gritty and glamorous, they have that edgy quality to them that even makes you feel as though you’re seeing something you shouldn’t. It’s no wonder that she describes her portraits as “staged performances” or “intimate moments,” it’s like you’re teetering on the edge between fantasy and reality. Seduced by the moment, you’re unsure if you want to wake up from this intriguing dream.
