Dynamic Flower Arrangements Look Like Exploding Fireworks

In a nod to New Year’s festivities, artist Sarah Illenberger creatively re-imagines bouquets of flowers as brilliantly exploding fireworks. She carefully arranged the cascading blossoms in front of black backdrops to achieve the illusion of night-sky depth and quick-burst movement.

Making static blooms burst into firecracker action is a tall order, but she achieved the effect beautifully. Several factors make Flowerworks so convincing. The formations and grouping of bouquets look like realistic firework explosion patterns. The intermingling of textures and colors plus dramatic lighting and expertly chosen angles all combine to ring in the New Year with nature’s flair.

This kind of original project is characteristic of Illenberger’s work, blogger Mary Scherpe notes on the Berlin-based artist’s website. “With a focus on analog craftwork using everyday items, Sarah is renowned for creating vivid, witty images that open up new perspectives on seemingly familiar subjects,” she says.
