For many Star Wars fans, having their own lightsaber might be just a dream. But through Saber Forge, it’s a reality. The Portland-based company makes high-end, accurate laser swords, and they’ve recently launched a Kickstarter campaign for their new endeavor called Adaptive Saber Parts (ASP). It’s a modular system that allows you to customize and assemble your own movie-quality lightsaber. Plus, there’s no prop-building experience necessary!
Saber Forge’s initial ASP release will offer over 100 unique metal parts in three different finishes. This means there are countless configurations to build, and it’s now easy to create a hilt that matches your personality. Every month, the company will also release a new expansion set, making the design possibilities truly endless.
In addition to the hilt, Saber Forge offers “plug and play” no-solder electronic kits. You can upgrade your handle to a dueling saber, light-up blade, or functional hero-level prop that’s complete with lights, motion detection, and sound.
Watch the Kickstarter video below and see how easy it is to use the Adaptive Saber Parts – they produce some impressive lightsabers. Others fans think so, too. With over three weeks left, the campaign has already reached its funding and more than doubled its goal.
