Our World Unwrapped is a series of distorted panoramics by artist and technical director Sren Ragsdale of Double Negative Visual Effects. The artist takes multiple photos of famous landmarks and stitches them together into these warped visual creations.
He says, “I stitch them into a hemisphere (globe), and I project the hemisphere into a flat map. You get distortion at the corners, similar to how a map of the earth distorts the poles.”
By reworking his photographs into this final image, Ragsdale transforms these iconic locations like The Louvre, looking down at Paris from the Eiffel Tower, and Notre Dame, into fresh new experiences for his viewers. The distortions challenge us to think about what we see, and Ragsdale helps us to view the world in a brand new way.
