In the year since Rui Veiga first started pursuing photography as a hobby, the Lausanne, Switzerland-based creative has already developed a distinct visual voice centered around striking patterns, stark contrasts, and framing through light and shadow. Combining posed shots with a more candid style of street photography, Veiga depicts everyday scenes as a series of graphic, achromatic shapes, lines, and silhouettes that draw the viewer in.
“I like taking pictures in black-and-white because it travels through time and adds a touch of supernatural,” the photographer told Instagram Blog. “It is a style that allows me to go straight to what inspires me.”
