Mount Fuji
Last year, street photographer RK caught our eye with his candid shots of Tokyo. With an emphasis on the everyday, these images offered viewers an intimate glimpse into life in the bustling metropolis. Though RK still calls the capital city home, he has since broadened his horizons, finding artistic inspiration all over idyllic East Asia.
Retaining an interest in capturing “the moment and story at that time,” RK continues to capture the inherent beauty of his surroundings. While the shrines, streets, and skyscrapers of Tokyo continue to serve as his muse, diverse destinations from Taipei, Taiwan to Chongqing, China have also popped up in his captivating oeuvre.
In any case, RK plays with composition and experiments with perspective to creatively document distinct moments in time. Whether he strategically dwarfs a fishing boat with perfectly placed maple leaves or notices a pattern in illuminated windows, RK freezes the fleeting beauty of his experiences.
“History will change,” he says, “but clouds and mists in the mountains are the everlasting beautiful things waiting for the travelers of any era.”
