Whether you’re a child of the 80s or not, you’re probably familiar with the urban trend of the time when people would walk down the street blasting a boom box on one shoulder. Taking that same idea of sharing music via technology on public grounds and reinterpreting it for the modern era, New York-based design studio Ray Kingston Inc. has developed a set of speakers for the stylish urban pedestrian to wear on their feet.
The product, aptly titled Sneaker Speaker, is exactly what it sounds like–a pair of wireless speakers to strap onto your sneakers. The portable sound amplification device includes an adjustable band to fasten it onto one’s shoes with the option of a second strap to further secure its position. The powerful gadget is equipped to connect wirelessly to mobile devices that are BlueTooth-enabled. However, there is also the alternative choice of using a cable stereo input.
Sneaker Speaker is a piece of tech gear that is innovative and specifically reaches out to enthusiasts in the urban music and art scene through its function and design. While it is a new and creative invention for this age run by digital portable devices, it remains to be seen if it has the power to tear people away from the comfort of privacy they get with headphones.
