While this may look like a photo of someone tearing a chunk of wood out of a rotting tree stump, it’s actually an expertly crafted wood and paper piece that houses a little secret. Created by Chinese crafter and designer Pochiko Ho, the small sculpture features delicate paper-made mushrooms, insects, and a book, the spine of which has been fused with the bark of the stump.
The handmade piece features a small slot carved out of the wood for the thin journal to covertly sit in hiding. The carefully concealed book seamlessly slips in and out of its wooden encasing making the enchanting sculptural project feel like a secret personal library fit for a magical forest in a fairy tale.
