Passion-Filled Protest Signs in Tahrir Square, Cairo

On February 1st, British filmmaker Oliver Wilkins decided to head out into Tahrir Square, Cairo to document the protests. Based in Cairo for the past 12 years, he says that he has a “great love of Egypt and the Egyptians.” That being said, he tries to stay clear of Egyptian politics. What has been happening in Tahrir, however, is so “totally unprecedented,” that he felt compelled to shoot these scenes.

“It’s amazing to see people making signs from anything lying around them in an attempt to get their voices heard,” Wilkins says.
