Halloween is a holiday that is defined by many traditions, including: getting dressed up in costumes, applying some wickedly cool makeup, carving extraordinary pumpkins, and eating a ton of candy. One particularly exciting ritual that many people partake in every year involves the thrill of entering a haunted house. In fact, people willingly enter Nightmares Fear Factory–a haunted house in Niagara Falls, Canada–all year round.
Year after year, people have been subjecting themselves to the spine-tingling spooks and scares that claim to be the “World’s Most Frightening Experience.” Groups of people are let loose in a maze of jolting scenes, only to have their picture taken at the height of their fear. Of course, it’s all in good fun and everyone is able to have a good laugh over the bulging eyes, frightened squeals, and flinching motions captured in the photos.
Also, if the experience gets to be too much, visitors are given the option of shouting “NIGHTMARES!” to have someone that works at the haunted house to safely escort them out. (Doing so gets the person added to the “chicken list”–but don’t worry, s/he’d be in the company of hundreds of thousands of others who’ve called it quits.)
