French artist Nicolas Jolly produces subtle yet beautiful paintings of various landscapes from all over the world, particularly in France, capturing the allure of architecture and the crowds that landmarks draw. From la Sorbonne and the Louvre in Paris to the Pont de pierre in Bourdeaux (where Jolly is based), the painter manages to create artistic renditions of each landscape that presents a healthy dose of color variance.
Though the hues in each of the acrylic and watercolor paintings are usually diluted, there is the occasional pop of color that draws the eye. Whether this be in the radiant disposition of Le Grand Theatre or merely in the reflection in a puddle of a blurred individual, Jolly executes each image with creative flair. He provides a refreshing point of view that strays from a literal representation and tiptoes on abstraction.
