Japanese design firm Nendo merged the concept behind Russia’s traditional matryoshka dolls with an ordinary bookshelf so that book lovers will always have room for their growing personal library. This creation, known as the Nest Shelf, is designed with practicality in mind, with the added bonus of seeming quite magical.
At first glance, Nest may seem quite common because it looks like your average three-shelf piece of furniture, but it quickly transforms when you pull at its sides. This simple adjustment allows the multifunctional unit to expand so that it can provide additional shelving space. The designers used carbon fiber to help support this work of wonder, allowing the shelves to hold an impressive number of novels and knickknacks.
