New 3D Anamorphic Illustrations by Nagai Hideyuki

Japanese artist Nagai Hideyuki is a master of fine art illusion who first impressed us with his perspective-based sketches last year. The illustrator has since expanded his collection of clever creations, once again boggling our minds with his skilled illusion techniques. The 3D illustration specialist manages to produce anamorphic illusions across flat surfaces, often by lining up two sketchbooks perpendicular to one another. His playful imagination introduces a cast of creative characters jumping off the page and making their way into the real world.

The latest set of three-dimensional drawings the 22-year-old has released, since we last shared his work, maintains the artist’s aesthetic and technique while offering new images. Hideyuki even experiments more with color in his most recent works, exemplifying his style of work. Though the drawings are life-like in their three-dimensionality, the addition of color doesn’t take away from the fact that they are very much a manifestation of illustrations come to life rather than an accurate rendition of reality.

Hideyuki’s works are very playful and his videos depicting their anamorphic nature invite viewers to play along. Check out a quick video of one of the artist’s illustrations, as seen from different angles, below.
