Artist Nadya Vasileva echoes this sentiment with her imaginative, handcrafted bookmarks of adorable animals that both hold your place and accompany you while you read. The tiny creatures rest atop the pages like something straight out of a fairy tale. As if they weren’t cute enough, they don human-like attire—long scarves, dapper bow ties, and wire-rim glasses. To use them, you simply clip the character onto the book and move its attached cord to mark your spot.
Vasileva uses polymer clay—a special material that hardens in a conventional oven—to sculpt her mice, owls, and foxes. Each bookmarking figure has big eyes with a sweet smile that provides a comforting presence as you pour through the pages.
