A master of movie posters, artist Jordan Bolton is known for identifying, arranging, and photographing objects from favorite films. From Hayao Miyazaki’s animated movies to quirky cult classics, Bolton dissects cinematic masterpieces into neatly organized collections of props. For his most recent series, the artist has opted to narrow this object-based focus, concentrating specifically on well-known movie fashion.
Ranging from Holly Golightly’s slinky black dress and five-strand pearl necklace to Cher Horowitz’s yellow plaid suit and knee socks, the outfits presented by Bolton cover a wide array of both film genres and tastes in clothing. In addition to Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Clueless, the artist also explores ensembles from Amélie, The Royal Tenenbaums, A Clockwork Orange, The Godfather, and Drive, giving equal attention to screen-stealing staples and the iconic accessories that complement them.
Bolton cleverly organizes the collections of clothing into shop window-inspired arrangements. The films’ titles can be found at the top of the displays, while tiny placards toward the bottom provide the names of both the characters represented and the talented designers responsible for their costumes.
