The nostalgia of cassette tapes meets a modern, sleek, and industrial design in Taybles, a Los Angeles-based company which specializes in crafting pop-art that doubles as functional furniture. The three young artists who make up the company (Taylor, Justin, and Zach) produce cassette tape coffee tables, each one made of a mixture of materials—hardwood, birch, steel—and always sealed with clear epoxy. Some models are also fitted with LED lights in the cupholder holes to upgrade any house party.
As they state on their website, the trio’s quirky tables are made for “musicians, artists and the young at heart.” But, really, they’re intended for anyone who wants to add some fun and individuality to their home. Each table comes with a personalized or classic mixtape label, such as “Awesome Mix Vol. 2.” You can even purchase a custom table on the company’s Etsy shop 214Graffiti.
These mixtapes may not actually play music, but all they really need now is a boombox couch.
