Imagine stumbling upon one of these magnificent dinosaur skeletons set within the hills of a sandy shore. Though they aren’t the real thing, these beautiful sculptures are reminders that history is present everywhere we go. The series, entitled Driftwood Dinosaurs, was created by Japanese artist Mitsuru Koga who prefers working with natural materials to create his artwork.
For each piece, Koga meticulously arranged the driftwood into playfully realistic creations. They are by no means meant to be replicas of actual dinosaur fossils, but they certainly inspire a viewers’ imagination. “I add special care to natural objects with the hope that the artificial process counterpoints naturalness more,” explains Koga. “Vice versa, the process seems to me to search for the position of human beings in nature.”
