Miss Grand Thailand Pageant Contestant Loses Her Teeth Onstage and Makes a Triumphant Comeback

Pageant contestant Kamolwan Chanago recently won over the hearts of people in her native Thailand and beyond. Given her background in pageantry, it comes as no surprise that she has beauty and grace, but she also boasts something special: a unique kind of resilience. A video of Chanago’s veneers coming loose as she introduces herself onstage went viral a few days ago, but rather than cowering away in embarrassment or trying to pretend it never happened, Chanago has embraced her mishap, making it part of her charm.

The unlucky moment took place at the Miss Grand Thailand pageant. As she was delivering her speech during the preliminary round, her top veneers came off, causing her to mumble her words. Chanago discretely turned around to put them in place. Rather than looking mortified, she recovered with confidence, finishing her walk across the stage with the poise of an international top model.

A spokesperson for Chanago told People, “She handled the situation with professionalism and composure, and the event continued smoothly without disruption. We are proud of her confidence and stage presence throughout the competition.”

The accident sparked conversations about the lengths beauty pageant contestants go to to fit in with beauty standards, down to their teeth. Looking at the bright side, Chanago decided to lean into the incident for the pageant’s final event. The 18-year-old walked on stage, this time without her veneers on. After flashing a smile at the camera with her natural teeth, she put her dental shells in before smiling again and introducing herself, happier than ever.

Chanago didn’t wind up winning the pageant, which would have given her the chance to represent Thailand at Miss Grand International 2026 pageant in India, but she may have won something even bigger: the world’s admiration (and likely some large marketing deals for dentistry-related products).
