A greeting card is an easy and engaging way to tell someone how we really feel. While many of these sentiments take a serious tone, Melanie Sheppard instead focuses on the awkward and funny parts of real life. In her shop Mod by Mel, the quirky creative features cards that express love, encouragement, and sympathy in an amusing-yet-endearing way.
Each of Sheppard’s cards feature a minimalist, hand-lettered front that’s left blank inside for you to write or draw your own note. This type of design strikes a chord with her audience. “The feedback I get most often from my cards is: ‘how did you get inside of my head?!’” They’re honest and relatable, as Sheppard explains, “that kind of openness brings people together.”
Mod by Mel currently has heartfelt cards about motherhood, romantic anniversaries, birthdays, and more—all stocked on Etsy.
