Did you catch last night’s Oscars? If not, here’s a quick recap. Jareto Leto and Lupita Nyong’o gave two eloquent and moving acceptance speeches, Ellen (or rather Bradley Cooper) took a celebrity-filled selfie that broke Twitter, and Leonardo DiCaprio didn’t win..again. Of course, the real excitement of the night wasn’t at the actual award show but instead was at the after-party hosted by Vanity Fair.
This year, Vanity Fair partnered up with Instagram in building the ultimate photo space. The custom-built studio, found next to the party, was sparsely decorated and consisted of a wood plank floor and some distressed furniture. Mark Seliger, an American photographer, known for his cover photos for Rolling Stone, GQ and Vanity Fair was on hand to capture new portraits that he would then share for Vanity Fair on Instagram. Of course, these A-list actors are used to being photographed, so they pulled out all the stops for Seliger, either hamming it by pretending to arm wrestle (Paul Rudd and Adam Scott) or effortlessly striking a statuesque pose (Sofia Vergara).
“We’re aiming to capture a little of the glamour of Oscar night in a timeless yet modern and accessible way,” Seliger said in a statement about the project. What a spectacular way to bring social media into the mix.
